Experience the world’s most enchanting and timeless love story—retold with a dark and realistic twist.
Reclusive and severely scarred Prince Adam Delacroix has remained hidden inside a secluded, decrepit castle ever since he witnessed his family’s brutal massacre. Cloaked in shadow, with only the lamentations of past ghosts for company, he has abandoned all hope, allowing the world to believe he died on that tragic eve twenty-five years ago.
Caught in a fierce snowstorm, beautiful and strong-willed Isabelle Rose seeks shelter at a castle—unaware that its beastly and disfigured master is much more than he appears to be. When he imprisons her gravely ill and blind father, she bravely offers herself in his place.
Stripped of his emotional defenses, Adam’s humanity reawakens as he encounters a kindred soul in Isabelle. Together they will wade through darkness and discover beauty and passion in the most unlikely of places. But when a monster from Isabelle’s former life threatens their new love, Demrov’s forgotten prince must emerge from his shadows and face the world once more… Perfect for fans of Beauty and the Beast and The Phantom of the Opera,Beauty of the Beast brings a familiar and well-loved fairy tale to life with a rich setting in the kingdom of Demrov and a captivating, Gothic voice. Content Warning: This is an edgy retelling of the classic fairy tale. Due to strong sexual content, profanity, and dark subject matter, including an instance of sexual assault committed by the villain, Beauty of the Beast is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

This is book one in the Fairytale Retellings series and sticks very close to the original B&B storyline.
The twist is the darkness in it and the way the characters and situations are handled.

Isabelle is a strong willed and loyal heroine.Despite not being appreciated she tries to do her best. But there is only so much one person can do to try and save their family. Her bethrothed is not who everyone thinks he is and he poses a great deal of danger to her.
Running away from a dreary future along with her sick father, she ends up at a derelict castle.
The owner- Adam, who never shows himself to her is very prickly and rude. And when her father is caught stealing something, she offers herself up in his place.
Her former bethrothed is still searching for her and just as Adam and Isabelle are bringing to get closer to each other, they are torn apart.
Will two souls with such broken beginnings find their way back to a happy ending?

There is no curse or magic spell in this book.It just shows the dark side of human nature, and how despite the best of our efforts sometimes we end up in positions we don't want to be in.
Adam's past has left him badly scarred - literally and figuratively. He's been alone almost all the time.He has had to deal with a lot of guilt and shame. This leaves behind so much anger and self-loathing that he does behave like a true beast in the beginning.
Slowly with companionship and hope he manages to find a way back to the land of the living.

Isabelle had a resilient soul.I loved how she was loyal to her family, but she knew how to take carre of herself too.
But I believe I would have loved it even more if we had spent more time developing Adam and Rose's relationship emotionally too.
Raphael was someone we could easily hate, but the author showed us a reason for his behavior too.People just don't end up being born as villains and he wasn't one dimensional like other fairy tale antagonists.
The reason I loved this book was the realism in it.Certain events like what happened to Rose's father were necessary for the story to go in a certain direction and there was logic behind it.A devoted daughter like Rose would never leave her father behind unless she had no choice. The event though an accident caused a gap between Adam and Rose, which he had to overcome by embracing his human side.
And after all if you love the beast as he is, you wouldn't really need any magic spell to change his appearance or get back to ruling the kingdom.Sometimes a happy ever after is not just having it all, but having each other and being content.
