THE PERFECT NEIGHBORS. THE PERFECT COVER.
A Gripping Romantic Suspense Thriller
He’s a contract killer. She likes to even the score. Smack dab in the middle of suburbia, few married couples are as competitive as Jude and Kate.
But then, most married couples don't keep score in the form of body counts. Each hell-bent on a silent pact to out-do the other, the games begin.
Who ends up on top is anyone’s guess. But with these two, one thing’s for sure— not everyone comes out alive.
After all, there are a few things they can agree on: All is fair in love and war. And if they can’t make it work— they’re dead in the water.
A perfect addition to the Water Trilogy. In the first book- Water Under The Bridge, we saw how Kate and Jude got together, the highs and lows, the difficulties in their lives and the things they face together. In this book, we see their married life.Marriage requires a lot of work. The work is more especially when you and your spouse are killers, trying to fit in with the neighborhood and raise a son.
The writing has the same narrative format as the first book, that is, from a second person POV and I loved it.We don't see many books in this format. The best part about the book, in my opinion, was the atmosphere that the author has created. Its got that chilly feel that gets under your skin and immerse you slowly. When I read it I was fully involved and it took me a while to set my head straight after that.Kudos to the author for creating that effect!
I loved the dynamic and the relationship between Jude and Kate.Kate is quite impulsive and passionate, while Jude takes his time with things. But the bond between them was so strong, and I felt in Water Under The Bridge and I could feel it here too.I loved being in their heads. Its so chilling and fascinating at the same time! The author has delved into their psyches and the way they rationalized their actions is so different. This isn't some vigilante kind of thing. And they can't explain away their decisions to others, as they wouldn't understand them. But, we as readers could understand even though we might not agree with them, you know?Quite an experience!
The best part was these two aren't sociopaths. They have feelings, they have emotions and they hurt just as deep as us.But, they are different from us. We might not accept people like them in real life, but we can understand them here.
I love the author for creating such a complex and fascinating story with wonderful characters. You guys, should really give it a try.Though different, you might end up loving it!
Can't wait to read the next book! :D
“Cheers,” I offer, but it sounds like ‘fuck you,’ which it is, and I hate that we haven’t touched glasses. It’s bad luck, and certainly we don’t need any of that. You don’t seem concerned with luck though, because in two short strides you are standing in front of me, and your eyes are dark. You swallow hard, and this intensity, it kills me. You don’t say anything, and I hate the silence between us. Maybe you’re trying to send a message. Maybe you’re into telepathy; I’m not sure. But I’m not afraid of this side of you, Jude. It’s always been the best part. And so when you push me against the wall, I go willingly. At least at first. Because I know you, and you’ve always enjoyed a bit of a fight.
