Raised from the dead as a revenant more than a hundred years ago, Zulu possesses Spiderman’s stealth, Superman’s speed, and Batman’s keen intellect. His only companion is Morgan the Seer, an old man cursed with longevity and the ability to see the future in his dreams. Zulu has spent the last century training with Morgan in order to save the people in his nightmares from certain and violent death. Branded a vigilante by the Media, Zulu must live his life in the shadows, travelling by night or in the city’s underground unless his quest demands otherwise.

Kat is an empath, someone who sees emotions as colourful auras. Relentlessly bullied by her peers, and believing her life amounts to nothing but a huge cosmic mistake, she finds purpose in her abilities when she is recruited to help Zulu and Morgan complete their missions.

Malchus is Morgan’s long dead twin brother. A powerful necromancer, Malchus manages to find a way to return to the living, and he has a score to settle with Morgan. Believing Morgan responsible for his death and out to seek revenge, Malchus begins to raise an army of undead minions and use them to hunt Morgan down. As Malchus closes in on Morgan and his charges, the trio soon realizes the people most in need of saving are themselves.

Character Bio

 

My name is Zulu. I died when I was thrown from a horse on my way to elope with my girl. Then

I woke up. I haven't aged a day since. Before long I realized I had super powers--incredible

speed, perfect vision, and miraculous strength. My only companion for more than a century

has been Morgan the Seer, an old man who can see the future. He tells me what he sees in his

dreams and I help the people he sees. The media's pegged me a vigilante, but I'm really more of a

superhero, keeping the city safe from evil under the cover of the night.

 

My name is Kat. I like to talk. In fact, my mom? She says I talk too much and she named me

Katherine because I reminded her of a Chatty Cathy doll. I tried to tell her that she wouldn't

know I was so chatty when she named me because I was still a baby and couldn't talk at all.

Zulu? He's a revenant, which is different from a vampire, but I'm not exactly sure how except

vampires drink blood and so far Zulu hasn't. He found me after school one day and recruited me

to help him and the Seer, who I think is like his father, but is more the age of his grandfather,

and considering what I know of his history, isn't even really related to him at all. Oh! Did I

mention I see auras? I can also sense what people are feeling, which is probably why the Seer

recruited me to help him and Zulu save people. Anyway, since I joined them I'm happy, you

know? Because I finally feel like I belong somewhere, and they don't look at me like I'm strange

or something, because let's face it, alongside a man who's lived as long as the Seer and someone

who's immortal because he returned from the grave, I'm like...normal.

 

My name is Morgan. I first learned of my ability to see the future when I was a boy and I saw

the livery stable burn to the ground. I tried to warn the groom but he wouldn't listen. I've spent

the past hundred years recording my dreams in a journal until the timing's right and I send Zulu

and Kat to help some poor soul escape certain danger. In my time I've seen many changes. For

example, it used to take a week or more for news to travel. Now we see it as it's happening.

People walking around with cameras on their person, recording the minutia of every second of

their lives--it's maddening! But I digress. Where was I? Oh yes. Though I can see the fate of

others, I'm unable to see my own. Considering my twin brother, Malchus, has found a way to

return from the grave and he blames me for his death, I'm not sure that's necessarily a good thing.

 

My name is Malchus. Morgan is my twin brother. Growing up, my parents had high hopes for

me. I apprenticed with Dr. Algernon while my dolt of a brother was relegated to farm duties.

Algernon taught me more than the Healing Arts. He also taught me how to raise the dead,

something my close-minded brother couldn't comprehend. When a bunch of idiot high school

kids got in over their heads with a Ouija board I slipped into one of their bodies. My plan is

simple: seek revenge on my brother, who I know had a hand in my death. The only obstacles to

my success are my rusty necromancing skills. If I can only recall the process to properly raise

people from the dead, I will amass an army of minions to help me and the world will bow at my

feet!

Interview

 

 

What would be your biggest achievement for your novel? Seeing it on the New York Times

Best Sellers list? Have it be turned into a TV series or movie?

 

The Revenant as a series or a movie? Why not? Think big or go home, right?

On a serious note, I've set the goal for The Revenant to sell at least 5,000 copies and become a

Canadian Best Seller as a result. Maybe I'll attain the status of New York Times Best Seller next

time out. I'm thinking in baby steps, raising the bar one notch at a time, one book at a time.

If I make it this time out, I'd be more than thrilled.

 

 

If you could name one book/TV show/movie that best describes you or your life, what one

would it be?

 

This is a really tough question. I think it would have to be the television series Once Upon A

Time. My children will groan when they hear that, but there's a metaphoric reason for choosing

it. It's a fantasy where everything ever imagined is real. The characters always strive for their

happy ending only to have it taken from them at the last minute or to learn there's no such thing.

Even so, they keep striving regardless. This helps me to believe that anything I imagine can

be real and the moment I put it down on paper or talk about it, it sort of becomes real. Like

everyone else, I strive for my happy ending--winning the lottery, retirement, things to write

about, selling books, seeing them made into a television series or a novel. Though I may never

achieve most of those goals, I will achieve parts of them at times. These are be short-lived happy

endings, but they give me hope that one day maybe all my goals will be achieved, and that keeps

me going. I used to call my blog "My Own Little Storybrooke" for that reason, because in it, my

dreams become reality, the characters seem real, and there's always hope for a happy ending.

 

 

Social media is conquering the world. Are you addicted to a particular social media site? If so,

why?

 

Trying to publicize my book has made me a general social media addict out of necessity. I tweet

and facebook about everything I do that's writing related. I'm trying to regularly post to Google+

and LinkedIn as well. Online I'm like that kid that sits at the front of the class waving her hand

shouting "Pick me! Pick me!" at the teacher, or the one that calls the teacher over to brag about

her art project, which is so unlike me because in real life I'm much more low key. Maintaining

my web site has become just as important as social media and I'm constantly updating that as

well.
