Synopsis: If graphic designer Scott Parker has to design one more cupcake company logo, he might lose
it. So when he is tasked with retouching photos for a big fashion client, a stunning, lanky model
mesmerizes Scott and occupies his fantasies long after the assignment is finished.
When the model is assigned to one of Scott’s projects, Scott discovers that the object of
his desire is nothing like what he imagined. Despite Jamie Donovan’s aloof and dismissive
behavior, Scott struggles to forge a friendship with him, all the while trying to keep his attraction
at bay.
Will Jamie follow through on signals that he may be interested, or will he forever be the beautiful
man in the photograph, an untouchable fantasy?

My Review

★ ★ ★ ★

Designs On You was a nice quick read that I really enjoyed. Most m/m books that I have read in the past were erotic romance, so I really liked this book because it was a nice and sweet romance that only had a few sex scenes in it. I also liked the plot of the book. It was different, and I would love to read more books like this one.

I really enjoyed the cat and mouse game between Scott  and Jamie, but after a while it got a little annoying. Sometimes Scott was so blind when it came to Jamie's crush on Scott, that I wanted to just throw my kindle. However, I thought they were really cute together. Despite the fact they were calling each other friends when they both wanted more was romantic.

Scott was my favorite character. Not only was he an awesome graphic designer, he tried so hard to break through the wall of ice that Jamie kept putting up. Scott really tries to get to know the guy behind the camera, and that is why I liked him so much.

Over all this was a great read, and I recommend this to all romance fans out there. Definitely give this book a read.

Interview

Tell us a little about yourself.

I get terrible stage fright, but I love public speaking. When I was younger, I wanted to do
anything but write or teach. Now I do both. I can’t stop buying nail polish or red lipstick, but I
hardly wear any other makeup. I have professional backgrounds in journalism, public relations,
editing, advertising, marketing, and randomly, mortgage banking. I currently work as a part-time
college professor in advertising and journalism. I’m awesome—just ask my mom.

What was the first book you wrote?

Designs on You is actually my first book. I’ve written novel-length fanfiction, but in reality, this
is my first honest-to-goodness book.

Who or what motivates you to write?

I left my full-time job over a year ago to pursue writing fully. That’s pretty big motivation. I
want to be able to make a living at writing, and to do that, I’ve got to stay focused. I still pick up
some freelance writing and editing gigs every now and then, and I have a part-time job, but I’d
really like to one day be able to make enough off my novels to say “I’m a novelist” and have it
be true in every sense of the word.

Who are your top 3 go to authors?

Chaim Potok
L. Frank Baum
Any former astronaut who writes about their experiences with NASA. I’m such a space nerd.

What are you currently working on?

I have two things I’m playing with at the moment. One is a historical romance that I’ve been
tinkering with for over a year, and the other is a new idea that I’ve only just started working on,
and it involves time travel. I’ve never been one to limit myself to one genre, and my tastes are
varied. So science-fiction and historical romance. Those are my two current projects.

When writing, what is your weapon of choice? Pen and paper, or computer?

I try so hard to be a pen-and-paper kind of gal, but man I’m addicted to writing on my laptop. I
buy all these great notebooks with the intent to try writing the “old-fashioned” way, but I type
so much faster than I can write by hand. And my hand cramps up whenever I try to use a pen for
more than a few lines. I think my days of scrawling in a notebook are long gone. I’m not alone in
this. I’ve heard that some states have stopped teaching cursive in public schools. I hope they’re
teaching typing instead.

If you were a box of crayons, what color would you be, and why?

The white one. It’s always the sharpest.

If you could write a book with any author in the world dead or a live, who would it be,
and why?

I’d love to write something with Truman Capote, especially along the lines of “In Cold Blood.”
I love his seamless mix of research and characterization. It made me actually sympathize with
murderers—these two horrific men who brutalized an entire family for less than $50. It’s an
amazing piece of work that I’ve always been fascinated by. Not to mention, true crime is one of
those areas that just draws me in, and Capote’s book is one of the greats.

Who is your favorite character out of one of your books, and why?

It’s going to sound strange because he’s really a secondary character, but Ben McComb, Scott’s
roommate in Designs on You is probably my favorite. He was a late addition to the story, but he
quickly became my favorite because of his tell-it-like-it-is personality and, of course, his affinity
for bacon.

If your book were made into a movie, who would play what character?

I’d like to see Scott played by someone swarthy but charming but who could also be a little
awkward. I think Kit Harrington from Game of Thrones could pull it off. For Jamie, I would love
for an unknown actor to play him—someone new and mysterious.
