Synopsis

Love isn't supposed to be an addiction. It isn't supposed to leave you bleeding.

Kona pushed, Keira pulled, and in their wake, they left behind destruction.

She sacrificed everything for him. </ span>

It wasn't enough.

But the wounds of the past can never be completely forgotten and still the flame remains, slumbers between the pleasure of yesterday and the thought of what might have been.

Now, sixteen years later, Keira returns home to bury the mother who betrayed her, just as Kona tries to hold onto what remains of his NFL career with the New Orleans Steamers. Across the crowded bustle of a busy French Market, their paths collide, conjuring forgotten memories of a consuming touch, skin on skin, and the still smoldering fire that begs to be rekindled.

When Kona realizes the trifecta of betrayal—his, Keira's and those lies told to keep them apart—his life is irrevocably changed and he once again takes Keira down with him into the fire that threatens to ignite them both.

My Review

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥♥ 5 stars

Raw, emotional, and addicting are just a few words to describe this awesome book. This is by far my favorite book by Eden Butler. Kona and Keira's relationship was in a since very realistic. They both had crazy tempers which led to a push and pull game. Sometimes, I thought it was a little to much. However, I kept rooting for them, because they really belonged together.

Some authors would be afraid to take it as far as Eden Butler did. Miss Butler shows us everything and lays it out there for everyone to see. This book really hooked me in from the first chapter. I still can't stop thinking about this book.

Kona and Keira's moms were both ... evil. I just wanted to go through my kindle and give both of them a huge hug. No one is perfect, but their moms were total bitches. How could you treat your children like trash? I wish we could have learned a little more about why they were like that.

I freaking loved Kona, and then I hated him. I hated him for the way he treated Keira. And, I loved him because he was dilling with a lot. Keira was the same way. Both of these characters were so broken. I really felt for them.

I really liked how the author told the story from the passed, and then up to the future. We really got a peak into their world. Miss Butler takes us on a journey. Instead of telling us their life, she shows it to us. Not a lot of authors write like that, so I really enjoyed it.

Kona was one hot alpha male. He was just so yummy. Keira is one lucky girl. I really enjoyed this book. I am so excited to see what is next by Eden Butler. I definitely recommend this book. NA fans will really love this book. Heck, anyone that loves a great love story will love this book. If you are looking for a light and fluffy book, this is not the book for you, but if you are looking for something that will make you think and go WOW, give this book a read.

Excerpt

There are groans, the sweet, erotic sound of their
bodies slapping together, his breath over her
face, his wide, perfect tongue inside her mouth and
Keira is drunk, high on him. She didn’t know,
hadn’t realized how much she’d missed this, how his
touch, his taste is like a drug. Her drug.
How had she lived without this? Without him?
“Harder. Kona... I need...”

“Wildcat, look at me.” Keira growls when he stills,
her body moving with the shake of his
shoulders and she looks up at him, eyebrow arched.
But his smile relaxes her, chases away some
of her annoyance. “Tell me what you need.” A small
thrust to keep that frown from her face and
Keira’s eyes roll behind her closing lids. Kona sto
ps, waits until she looks at him again. “You want
me to fuck you, Keira?” A harder thrust, this one h
as Keira’s legs shaking. “Or do you want me to
love you gentle?”

Either answer and one of them will be disappointed,
but Keira had been selfless for a long time,
putting everyone’s needs before her own. Kona looks
down at her and she exhales, releasing the
stores of want she has hoarded inside herself for s
ixteen years.

She touches his face, fingertips on his brow, over
his cheek and she hopes he understands. “Kona,
you can do gentle later. Right now, please fuck me.
“Fine,” he says, his smile falling a fraction and t
hen he pulls out of her, comes up on his knees.
“What... what are you doing?” She feels cold, unsatisf
ied, but doesn’t reach for him, curls her
fingers into a fist.

“What you asked.” Kona grabs her arms, fingers biti
ng into her soft flesh and he kisses her.
Tongue in her mouth, grip tight, lips so hard he pu
lls a sudden moan from her. Then, just as
quickly as he brought his mouth down on hers, Kona
moves away. “Turn around. Ass up so I can
fuck you, Wildcat.”

Eden Butler is an editor and writer of New Adult Romance and SciFi and Fantasy novels and the nine-times great-granddaughter of an honest-to-God English pirate. This could explain her affinity for rule breaking and rum. Her debut novel, a New Adult, Contemporary (no cliffieRomance, “Chasing Serenity” launched in October 2013 and quickly became an Amazon bestseller.

When she’s not writing or wondering about her possibly Jack Sparrowesque ancestor, Eden edits, reads and spends way too much time watching rugby, Doctor Who and New Orleans Saints football.

She is currently living under teenage rule alongside her husband in southeast Louisiana.
